Aethel Partners LLP convenes the Venezuela Commercial Claimholders Committee for holders of non-bond claims. Miller & Chevalier Chartered is counsel.
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, August 27, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Aethel Partners LLP is convening a committee for holders of commercial and other non-bond claims against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (the “Republic”), Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (“PDVSA”) and other Venezuelan state-owned entities (the “Venezuela Commercial Claimholders Committee” or the “Committee”). Miller & Chevalier Chartered is counsel to the Committee.
The Committee’s constituency includes trade creditors, suppliers, contractors, construction and infrastructure claimants, energy-sector creditors, and holders of arbitration awards, court judgments and acknowledged debts.
The Committee is intended to provide commercial and other non-bond creditors with a coordinated forum that will engage with the Republic and its advisers as Venezuela’s debt restructuring progresses. It will seek to ensure that the interests and claims of these creditors are appropriately represented and considered alongside those of other creditor constituencies.
“Commercial creditors represent a significant and distinct part of Venezuela’s creditor base, yet they have not had an organized voice comparable to that of sovereign bondholders,” said Brian Jarmain, Managing Director of Aethel Partners. “Many of these creditors provided infrastructure development materials and services, energy production services, and other materials and services to Venezuela over many years. The Committee will provide them with an organized platform from which to participate in the restructuring process.”
The Republic appointed Centerview Partners as its financial adviser in May 2026. Sovereign bondholders are being represented by the Venezuela Creditor Committee, which has retained Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe as its legal adviser and Houlihan Lokey as its financial adviser. Commercial and other non-bond claimholders have had no organized representation in the Republic’s global debt restructuring process until now.
Holders of commercial and other non-bond claims against the Republic, PDVSA or other Venezuelan state-owned entities may contact Aethel Partners regarding participation in the Committee.
