The new mini docuseries “In Jesus’ Name” goes beyond sensational Hollywood myths to the real-life experience of the Catholic rite of exorcism
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Oct. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Long after Halloween’s Hollywood horrors and fictional hauntings fade from our screens, Catholic exorcists and the survivors of demonic oppression face the real-world reality of evil and spiritual warfare.
The new three-part documentary series “In Jesus’ Name,” premiering Oct. 28-30 at 4 pm ET on EWTN+ and EWTN.com, goes beyond cinematic myths to deliver a truthful and deeply human look inside modern-day exorcisms. Watch the official trailer.
Produced by EWTN Studios and Cumberland Creative, the free series offers authentic first-person accounts of experienced exorcists and survivors of demonic oppression who tell their stories of how evil operates and enters human lives, and, most importantly, how it can be, and is, overcome in Jesus’ name.
“The purpose of this documentary is not to glorify or overly dramatize the work of the devil,” explains Father Dan Reehil, a pastor and diocesan exorcist in the Diocese of Nashville, national director of Radio Maria USA and host of Battle Ready with Fr. Dan Reehil, in the series’ opening scenes. “It’s meant to educate you on the reality of spiritual warfare, which affects all of us every day, whether you believe in it or not, so that you may be aware and equipped to arm yourself against the enemy of your soul with all the weapons that Christ our Lord has given his Church.”
The authoritative explanations by Father Reehil, Father Vincent Lampert, a pastor, who previously served for nearly 20 years as the designated exorcist for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, and Archbishop Jeffrey Grob, Archbishop of Milwaukee and theological expert on the history of the Catholic rite of exorcism, aim to illuminated for audiences the dangers of witchcraft, the occult and other flirtations with evil, often promoted as harmless in pop culture, and show how to avoid that spiritually dark road.
“With ‘In Jesus’ Name,’ we wanted to demystify the rite of exorcism and invite audiences to see how the Church responds to the presence of evil in an authoritative but compassionate and deeply human way,” said Peter Gagnon, President of EWTN Studios. “By giving viewers rare access to experienced exorcists, theologians and those who have confronted profound spiritual darkness firsthand, the series reveals not only the reality of spiritual warfare but the truth at its heart: the battle is real, but God’s love is greater.”
The ordained exorcists provide a rare look into their training, the meaning behind the rites they use, and the emotional toll of their work. Complementing their perspective, the series also includes the voices of men and women who have experienced deliverance from spiritual oppression as well as mental health experts.
At its core, “In Jesus’ Name,” isn’t about hyping up the drama of demonic deliverance, rather it aims to illuminate the very real human struggle between good and evil and the Catholic Church’s centuries-old response, particularly offering hope that darkness is not the end of the story.
“In Jesus’ Name” episode 1 is available and free to stream beginning Oct. 28 at 4 pm ET, with new episodes released Oct. 29 and Oct. 30, at EWTN.com or on the EWTN+ app on SmartTVs.
